The HTC Fusion sets out to combine the best of all the diverse HTC Android devices into one premium, clean-looking Android-powered device.
The device takes the 3.7" screen form factor from the HTC Desire/Nexus One and mates it with the robust aluminum one-piece casing that's currently featured on the HTC Legend.
The most unique feature of this device that I've been developing throughout my concepts is the glass strip that runs down the center on the back of the device. It presents many advantages that allows for a clean appearance without sacrificing the functionality of the device. -The glass strip allows the wireless radios inside the device "room to breathe" inside the aluminum shell. -The glass is slightly indented from the rest of the body to prevent scratching and cracking and provide a better grip. -It also serves as an elegant solution to housing the camera and the flash components. -The groove surrounding the glass is where sound from the speaker is emitted. Two microphones for noise canceling and video recording are also hidden in the groove. -The groove is also lit for personalization. -As devices get increasingly warmer due to higher battery use and increasing computing power, components, such as batteries and displays, are becoming susceptible to heat damage. The glass and groove act as cooling veins and vents for better passive cooling.
There are little features like this all over the device, such as the optical trackball with an embedded microphone, that allow for a clean design.
